IoT

IoT means Internet Of Things, now that we can connect everyday objects — kitchen appliances, cars, thermostats, baby monitors — to the internet via embedded devices. The term IoT is mainly used for devices that wouldn’t usually be generally expected to have an internet connection.Manufacturers are adding sensors to the components of their products so that they can transmit data back about how they are performing.

Different domains :

IoT Applications — Wearables :

Wearable technology is a hallmark of IoT applications and probably is one of the earliest industries to have deployed the IoT at its service. We happen to see Fit Bits, heart rate monitors and smartwatches everywhere these days.

Smart Home Applications :

When we talk about IoT Applications, Smart Homes are probably the first thing that we think of. Google Home, Netatmo…

Health Care:

IoT applications can turn reactive medical-based systems into proactive wellness-based systems.

Industrial Automation:

This is one of the fields where both faster developments, as well as the quality of products, are the critical factors for a higher Return on Investment

Security and Privacy concerns :

It should be noted that data breaches and cyberattacks are not the only threats the IoT faces. Some problems arise from poor design.Another concern with the IoT is it’s so overwhelmingly difficult to maintain secure. If there is the need to install crucial updates on hundreds of millions of devices, the task becomes all but impossible.

It’s clear that an ever-increasing number of everyday objects will connect to the internet.IoT is just one of 25 technology trends that I believe will transform our society over the coming years.
